Hair & Scalp Assessment
Scalp Assessment & Trichoscopy
Trichoscopy is a non-invasive technique that uses magnification to examine the scalp, hair shafts and follicular patterns in greater detail.
It can assist in the assessment of different forms of hair loss and scalp conditions.

What Is Trichoscopy?
Trichoscopy uses a dermatoscope or digital magnifying device to assess features of the hair and scalp that may not be clearly visible to the naked eye.
What Can Be Assessed in a Scalp Assessment?
Trichoscopy may assist with evaluation of:
- Hair shaft diameter
- Follicular density
- Miniaturisation
- Scalp scale
- Redness
- Broken hairs
- Follicular openings
- Patterns associated with different types of hair loss
Why Is It Useful?
Trichoscopy can support assessment of conditions such as:
- Androgenetic alopecia
- Telogen effluvium
- Alopecia areata
- Some inflammatory scalp conditions
- Other causes of hair thinning
It does not replace clinical history, examination or biopsy where those are required, and it does not give a definitive diagnosis in every case.

Assessment in person is the only way to work out what is causing a skin concern and what can reasonably be done about it. Fees are explained before anything is arranged.
